1. Google Gmail
service currently provides more than 7350 MB of free storage.The Gmail Labs feature, introduced on June 5, 2008, allows users to test new or experimental features of Gmail, such as bookmarking of important e-mail messages, custom keyboard-shortcuts and games. Users can enable or disable Labs features selectively and provide feedback about each of them. This allows Gmail engineers to obtain user input about new features to improve them and also to assess their popularity and whether they merit developing into regular Gmail features. All Labs features are experimental and are subject to termination at any time. Gmail Mobile is a version of Google's Gmail email service. It is a free service, developed to provide access to Gmail from mobile devices such as cell phones, or smartphones. Gmail Mobile was released on December 16, 2005 and is available in many different languages. Gmail Mobile offers many of the features as Gmail delivered effectively to smaller, mobile screens. Users have the ability to compose, read, reply, forward, mark unread, add a star or trash email messages. The Gmail interface differs from other webmail systems with its focus on search and its "conversation view" of email, grouping several replies onto a single page. Gmail's user experience designer, Kevin Fox, intended users to feel as if they were always on one page and just changing things on that page, rather than having to navigate to other places.
2. Yahoo! Mail
is a free web mail provided by Yahoo!. It was inaugurated in 1997 and serves over 280 million users as of 2009. It is currently the largest web-based email service, followed closely by its competitor Windows Live Hotmail. Currently, Yahoo! offers two versions of Yahoo! Mail: an Outlook-like Ajax interface powered by Yahoo!'s Zimbra introduced in 2007, as well as the traditional static-web-page "Yahoo! Mail Classic," which continues the availability of the simpler 1997-2006 interface for the brand's considerable installed base of users. In early 2008, Yahoo! started offering unlimited mail storage even to its non-paying users, in response to heated competition in the free-web mail market segment. On June 27, 2009, Yahoo! Messenger was integrated with Yahoo! Mail Beta.[4] This means that Messenger and Mail are together at one place, allowing to connect instantly with friends that are online, switch seamlessly between email and chat, with no download or setup required. This new feature is now available for Mail Classic.
3. Windows Live Hotmail
formerly known as MSN Hotmail and commonly referred to simply as Hotmail, is a free web-based email service operated by Microsoft as part of its Windows Live group. Windows Live Hotmail features 5GB of storage that expands as necessary,security measures for which patents have been filed, Ajax technology, and integration with Windows Live Messenger, Spaces, Calendar, and Contacts. It has over 270 million users worldwide as of 2008. It is available in 36 different languages.
4. Gawab
is a Web-based email service provider in the Middle East region. A WHOIS lookup shows a registrant in Alexandria, Egypt. Established in 1999, Gawab is amongst a small group of email providers that provide single-page application webmail interface built on AJAX technology. The word "gawab" is a phonetic spelling of the Arabic word for a letter (as in mail). 6. AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
is an instant messaging and presence computer program which uses the proprietary OSCAR instant messaging protocol and the TOC protocol to allow registered users to communicate in real time. It was released by AOL in May 1997. Stand-alone official AIM client software includes advertisements and is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Mac OS X, and Linux. The software, maintained by AOL, LLC, has the largest share of the instant messaging market in North America, especially in the United States (with 52% of the total reported as of 2006). This does not include other instant messaging software related to or developed by AOL, such as ICQ and iChat.
7. AOL Mail
(sometimes referred to as AIM Mail) is a web-based email (webmail) service provided by AOL. Its main competitors are Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The "AIM" in the name stands for AOL Instant Messenger, AOL's instant messaging program. AOL Mail is free and also features an option for creating an email address for a custom domain. 10. Hushmail
is a web-based email service offering PGP-encrypted e-mail, file storage, vanity domain service, and instant messaging (Hush Messenger). Hushmail uses OpenPGP standards and the source is available for download. Additional security features include hidden IP addresses in e-mail headers. The free e-mail account has a limit of 2MB, and no IMAP or POP3. Paid accounts have several hundred MB of storage as well as IMAP and POP3 access. If public encryption keys are available to both recipient and sender (either both are Hushmail users or have uploaded PGP keys to the Hush keyserver), Hushmail can convey authenticated, encrypted messages in both directions. For recipients for whom no public key is available, Hushmail will allow a message to be encrypted by a password (with a password hint) and stored for pickup by the recipient, or the message can be sent in cleartext.
